Is Your Body Ready for the Summertime?
Summer is rapidly approaching and now it’s time to shed those bulky clothes and sport all the body revealing clothes, and swimsuits, that go along with summer. Losing winter weight and toning up can be a difficult task.
It is estimated that one third of all women find the idea of wearing a swimsuit so upsetting that they refuse to wear one in public. The most common trouble spots include upper arms, waist, abs, hips, thighs, and, of course, the glutes. You don’t have to feel embarrassed or hide your body. There are plenty of simple exercises you can do right at home with no special exercise equipment that can help you tone up and get beach bikini ready. Crunches are a great way to tone abs. Lunges, squats, and leg lifts help tone the hips, thighs and glutes. Plank twists firm up your waistline, and using small weights will tone up your upper arms in no time. Adding a cardio plan will help you burn up to forty percent more calories than just performing low impact aerobic activities. Increasing your heart rate at short spurts for varying lengths of time helps speed up the fat burning process. Running, swimming, walking on an incline, rowing, skating, and cycling are good examples of cardio workouts. Having a twenty-five minute routine, consisting of basic aerobic activities paired with faster paced cardio activities just four times per week will get you on your way to looking fabulous in all the summer fashions you want to wear.Whittle Down Your Waist with These Trimming Diet Tips!
Losing weight, eating better and becoming healthier does not have to be difficult. There are some very simple ways you can actually eat to lose weight! The most important thing to remember when trying to lose weight is portion control.
Most people’s biggest mistake is just eating too much, even of healthy foods. Learning how to measure out a portion is key to losing weight. For example, a healthy serving amount of meat, fish, or poultry is 3 ounces, which is roughly equivalent to the size of the palm of your hand. The recommended serving size of cheese is 1 ounce, which is about the size of your thumb; the serving size of nuts is ¼ cup, which is a thin layer in the palm of your hand. Fats and oils should always be used sparingly and limited to about a half of an ounce, or the size of your fingertip. Processed foods and snacks should be avoided if possible. Another major part of losing weight is feeling full. If you are hungry, you are going to eat more. Eating foods that are rich in protein will help you feel full longer and keep you from seeking extra snacks. Fish, poultry, lean meats, and low fat dairy products are all rich in protein and keep you satisfied for longer periods of time. And don’t forget, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating even a small breakfast of cereal, or a hard-boiled egg will give your metabolism a boost and help you fight the impulse to snack throughout the day.Use These Exercises to Get Toned All Over!
It’s not as hard as you might think to get a great toned body. You don’t even need to join a gym, hire a personal trainer, or buy expensive exercise equipment. You can get the results you crave just minutes a day in the comfort of your own home.
To tone abs, try crunches and sit ups. Crunches isolate your abdominal muscles and put little wear and tear on your back. This exercise helps strengthen abs quite rapidly and a large number can be done quickly. Sit-ups are a bit more strenuous, but give you a greater range of motion, which work your abs longer and under more tension. Sit-ups also work the muscles on the front of your hips that are often underused and promote proper posture. Squats are a great way to strengthen your glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps. Lunges help tighten your leg muscles and shape your thighs and glutes. Push-ups are one of the best upper body toners, period! The motion used in push-ups helps tone your chest, triceps, and shoulders. If done on an incline or raised surface, the push-up motion will give your entire torso a great workout. It is also important to remember when working to get an overall toned body to vary your workout. Each day switch exercises to work a different target area. Alternating exercises will work different muscle groups and prevent your body from adapting to a routine. This will keep your body working to burn fat even when you are not working out.

Great advice, even if we know it is stuff we should already do :).
I for one needed to be reminded about the morning protein. I usually resort too many times to carbs when in a hurried state. Also, studies show that if you're going to indulge in a lot of sun your immune system had better be in great shape. A weakened immune system and a lot of sun can over time lead to damaged skin as well as skin cancer.
nice one
Excellent advice, Tiff. Ladies and men can see significant results by focusing on what they're eating, portion control and exercise. If you add in a third component, the mind, those results can happen faster and be much easier to achieve.
Great hub,thanks for the advice!
Nice hub, Tiff. Good points on dieting. I've found it helps to add raw food to dinners during the summer. One portion of meat and the remainder of the plate containing fresh fruits and veggies with a salad. It's filling and quick to prepare.

Don't forget your sunscreen! Great tips as always Tiffany. I agree about the foods - stick to all natural stuff as much as possible, and avoid the "diet" stuff with the chemicals in it.
See you at the beach;)
